What is JSON-LD?

JSON-LD is the format used to write a website's structured data: a block of JSON inside a script tag that describes the page's content. Its advantage is that it lives apart from the visible HTML, so it can be added, changed, or removed without touching the design or risking breakage. It's the format Google recommends over alternatives that get mixed in with regular markup. The vocabulary used inside it is almost always Schema.org.
