Why this matters
For an AI to cite you, it has to be able to read you first. And a huge number of sites have GPTBot or ClaudeBot blocked without knowing it: a plugin set it, the host left it on, or it shipped that way in the template. It’s a three-line text file that decides whether you exist for half the internet.
What we check exactly
- Your robots.txt, read the way a real crawler reads it: by groups, with the most specific block beating the general one and the longest matching path rule winning.
- Your llms.txt, the short file that tells an AI who you are and which of your pages matter.
- Whether your content depends on JavaScript, because a crawler that doesn’t run it finds an empty page.
- Whether a firewall cuts off access, which is different from a Disallow and much harder to spot.
What we don’t do
We don’t guess. If we can’t read your robots.txt, we say so and leave it there: a connection failure isn’t a block, and we won’t paint it red. We also don’t store your domain or ask for anything in return.
