What is AI Overviews?

AI Overviews is the name for the AI-generated summaries Google shows at the top of its search results, above the usual links. It was previously called SGE, back when it was still an experiment. The summary includes links to the pages the information came from. For a brand it's a significant shift in real estate: the space the top results used to occupy is now taken by a block of text, and what matters is being among the sources that text links to.
